Answers to Paint Coat & Thermal Spray Questions
- What would it cost to get something sandblasted? Cost is determined by size of project and degree of blast required.
- If I get my materials blasted, do I have to paint it afterwards? If you do not coat it after it is blasted, it will just rust again.
- If I get my materials blasted, how long do I have before I will lose my blast if I am coating it myself? It will depend on the environmental conditions and the degree of blast achieved. You would usually have 4-6 hours.
- If I get you to blast my materials, can I paint it myself? What kind of paint do I use? Absolutely, I can direct you to a manufacturer who can recommend a system based on your particular needs.
- How long will it take for you to blast my materials? How long to paint my materials? Time frame or turnaround will depend on the size of the job and the volume of materials being processed at the time of receipt at our facility and the system chosen.
- I have some stainless steel materials I would like to get blasted clean. Can you perform this service? Yes, we would simply use a non metallic blast media.
- What do you use to blast materials? It depends on the substrate, we use steel shot, steel grit, walnut shells, aluminum oxide, glass flake, Black Beauty, Jetmag, to name a few.
- How long is your work guaranteed? We do not guarantee our work; we offer a 12 month warranty on our workmanship. We do not warranty the materials used for the coating, which would have to be supplied by the manufacturer.
- Do you offer any transport? For a fee and depending on size and/or duration of project, we can pick up or deliver after processing, simply contact our dispatch for costs and availability.
- If something happens to my materials during shipping, what is your protocol? It would depend on what type of damage, who caused the damage, and/or who was actually transporting the materials.
- Do you paint wooden materials? No, we offer ferrous and non-ferrous metals processes.
- How small and/or large units can you process? We can process very small materials and large materials as long as they will fit through our doors and are within our lifting capabilities, ability would be determined based on actual material descriptions supplied by the client.
- Does the degree of rusting, thickness of coating requirement on my materials factor in to the cost for processing? Yes, the different degrees of blasts take different periods of time to achieve, the thickness of the coating affects the price due to the actual material costs and time needed to achieve required thicknesses.
- I have materials requiring blast and paint. The materials are only stitch welded. Will this be detrimental to the coating? If so, do you offer welding services? As a rule, areas which are stitch welded will exhibit 'rust bleed out', meaning that there is no way for us to seal the unwelded areas of the material. Paint is not filler. We do not offer any type of welding for any purpose.
- Do you offer site surface preparation and application? At this point in time, we do not offer this service.
- Do you offer weekend or holiday rates for services? What are the costs? We do on occasion; cost is based on job size and personnel availability.
- I have some materials I would like to have painted. Can you paint it for me? As an ISO certified company, we require that you the client inform us of your requirements. We do not recommend or suggest surface preparation or systems fit for purpose, however we always try to give you information on who to contact if you are unsure of what your exact requirements are (i.e. paint manufacturers).
- I have materials which have paint on them now. Can you just paint over top for me? First, I will need to know what type of paint is actually on the materials and under what conditions/environment you wish the coatings to perform, from there I can contact one of our paint suppliers and request information regarding surface preparation and applicable coatings.
